“Colorful Imagination” 

Sierra Madre’s Entry in the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade

The theme of the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade was “Just Imagine . . .” Sierra Madre’s entry was titled “Colorful Imagination,” This float celebrates children’s play and their unique ability to use their imaginations to create magical new worlds from ordinary, everyday objects.  As these children play they envision colorful butterflies soaring from the swirling paint.
 
FLOAT DESCRIPTION: Height: 28 feet
Width: 18 feet
Length: 42 feet
Boy moved side to side with the girl holding magical hoop, swirling paint, butterflies gently fluttering at the end of colorful swirls.

FLOWERING:

Roses carpeted the deck. All paint was depicted by fresh floral (Carnations, Button Mums, and Iris petals, etc.). Swirls leading to the butterflies used a mixture of Chrysanthemums, Button Mums, Florigene Carnations, and other colorful flowers. The butterfly wings were a mixture of strawflower, crushed marigold petals, statice, ground rice and other dry mixtures.10,000 Chrysanthemums, 10,000 Carnations, 10,000 Roses were used with various amounts of Iris, Gerbera Daisies, Germinis, Liatris, and Bells of Ireland.
