Deco Week!

  • SMRFA Float Barn 587 East Sierra Madre Blvd Sierra Madre CA 91024 United States (map)

Decorating a parade float is an exhilarating journey of creativity and craftsmanship, where every detail is carefully planned to create a stunning visual masterpiece. The process kicks off with the application of dried goods, grains, and seeds to the float’s props, adding texture and vibrant color. Each seed is painstakingly placed, forming intricate patterns that serve as the foundation for the float's design. As the float begins to take shape, the excitement builds, knowing that the next step will transform it into a living work of art.

The final stages are where the magic happens—live flowers are added to bring fresh color and life, from lush roses to radiant sunflowers. Designers arrange the blooms in perfect harmony, ensuring each flower is positioned for maximum impact. As the clock ticks down to parade day, the float is meticulously perfected with glittering accents, shimmering fabrics, and delicate paintwork. Just before the big event, the floats are judged for their creativity, craftsmanship, and overall beauty, and then, with a flourish of excitement, they roll out into the parade to dazzle crowds and celebrate the arrival of the New Year!
