Royal Court Applications Due

The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association is now accepting applications for Royal Court members to represent the Float Association at local functions and activities and to ride on our float on January 1, 2025 in the Rose Parade® presented by Honda.

This year we are searching for up to three (3) Royal Court members. Duties will include:

- SPEAKING TO LOCAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS AND CLUBS

- PRESENTING TO THE SIERRA MADRE CITY COUNCIL

- DECORATING OUR FLOAT AND WORKING IN OUR SALES BOOTH

- REPRESENTING US IN OTHER PUBLICITY OPPORTUNITIES

- RIDING ON THE FLOAT IN THE 2025 ROSE PARADE® PRESENTED BY HONDA

- WORKING AT FLOATFEST ON JAN. 2ND, 2025, INTERACTING WITH VISITORS

- VARIOUS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE 2025 CALENDAR YEAR


Our Royal Court will have a very exciting and educational year!



Application Guidelines and Process:

1) Applicants must be 15 to 18 years old, have a 3.0 grade average, and be a resident of Sierra Madre. Royal Court members must be available to participate in the speaking engagements (November & December) and during our Deco Week (December 26 – 31).

2) Applications are available on our website at: www.sierramadrerosefloat.org

3) Applications must be emailed to info@sierramadrerosefloat.org by Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Applications submitted later than October 2nd will not be considered.

4) Applicants must be able to attend judging interviews on the afternoon of Sunday, October 6th. The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association Royal Court will be presented to the membership on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the SMRFA Barn, located at 587 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. Legendary BINGO!

BINGO Fundraiser!

Join us on Saturday, Octorber 19th for a night of excitement and fun at the YMCA on 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. Doors swing open at 6 pm and the Bingo extravaganza kicks off at 7:30.

This lively event, hosted by the delightful Queens from Mary’s Hamburgers, promises a spirited atmosphere. A $25 donation grants entrance and includes a spread of pizza, beer, wine, and soda for your enjoyment.

All proceeds will go towards funding our fabulous float. Expect a raucous crowd, myriad prizes, and the kind of fun that leaves you wanting more. Come prepared for an evening of laughter and camaraderie - because if you know, you know!

Save the date, grab your lucky charms, and join us for a memorable night of Bingo for a great cause.

COSTUMES ENCOURAGED BUT NOT REQUIRED!

Deco Week!

Deco week starts off with putting all dry materials onto the float. Decorating props with seeds, rice and other dry flowers.

Near the end of the 5th or 6th day we have live flowers going on the float, followed by judging 1 and judging 2.

Floatfest

Following the Rose Parade, walk within feet of the floral and animated masterpieces parked along Sierra Madre and Washington Boulevards in Pasadena. Come rain or shine, take a closer look at the design and workmanship that went into each float entry and learn more about the float process from Tournament volunteers on hand. Comfortable walking shoes and early arrival are suggested for this exhibit, spanning over 2 miles of city streets with a moderate incline. No pets or bikes allowed.

For security purposes, all bags will be inspected at the gates. To expedite entry, clear bags no larger than 12x6x12 inches are highly recommended.

Jan. 1, 2025: 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm (ticket sales end at 3:30 pm, last entry at 4:00 pm)

Floatfest Shuttle (included with purchase of Floatfest tickets)

It is expected that close to 150,000 visitors will tour the Floatfest: A Rose Parade Showcase. Street parking near the event is extremely limited. To accommodate our guests and to make each visit more enjoyable, the Tournament of Roses Association provides free shuttle service from two locations in Pasadena. Guests using shuttles enter the event through a priority line.

4th Of July Parade

We will be showing off our progress for the 2025 Float, driving it in the parade. As well as selling roses to benefit the building of our 2025 float. Parade will start on the corner of Sunny side and Sierra Madre BVLD at 10 AM. Parade will be moving east down the blvd ending at the Sierra Madre Rose Float Barn.

We need volunteers to help sell flowers while walking in the parade!

Party in the Park

Morning: 11 am, July 3rd

Party starts for us the morning of July 3rd. Volunteers are needed to help process, clip and vial roses to sell in the 4th of July Parade.

Evening: 5 pm - 8:30 pm, July 3rd

We’ll have a booth by the Beer Garden in Memorial Park from 5 pm until 8:30 pm. Sell merch and plants to support the 2025 float. Let’s celebrate with our Sierra Madre community!
